How to Crochet Heatless Curlers

So have you seen the videos trending on Tik Tok right now, the ones where the girls are using there boyfriends socks to curl there hair? Well I have a quick, easy, and best of all free pattern especially for you guys, to make your own 'hair socks', this is a great pattern and is very quick to make. If you want to achieve heatless curls and I must say pretty effortless curls, then these "hair socks" are going to be a game changer for you and they are far more glamourous than your boyfriends socks.

I thought of making these when I came across a video tutorial on heatless curls. I grabbed 4 of my partners socks and followed the tutorial, I found it very fiddly but I did it and was really happy with the curls I achieved and for so little effort, it sure beat standing for a hour in the morning curling with my curlers and damaging my hair in the process.

The part I found fiddly was starting the wrapping of my hair around the socks, this is when I had a light bulb moment. I thought about designing some "hair socks" of my own with an added loop to hold the hair in place whilst you start wrapping the hair around.

I made them using the comfiest velvet yarn I could fine, the popular Bernat Velvet Plus, this make them ever so comfortable to sleep in unlike other heatless curlers on the market.

Anyway lets get on to the pattern, here is my pattern for crochet 'hair socks', alternatively if you'd like to purchase a set of hair socks please click here.

If you want to know how to use these hair socks then you can watch this quick video tutorial on how to put them in your hair and what the results will be.

Hair Socks Pattern

This pattern is written in standard US terms.

Skill Level: Beginner

You will need:

Wool specifically Bernat Velvet Plus Buy Wool Now

Hook 8mm

Darning Needle

Stitch Markers

Abbreviations

· Ch – Chain

· St/Sts – Stitch/Stitches

· Sl-st – Slip-stitch

· Sc – Single Crochet

· Hdc – Half Double Crochet

· Rep – Repeat

Tension is not important for this pattern.

There are 3 different lengths to this pattern, ideally you want to pick a size that is approximately 6cm short than your own hair.

Sizes S (M, L)

Length 28cm (33cm, 38cm)

Ch 4

R1: Start in the second ch from hook.

Htr in 2nd st from hook, htr to end. 3 sts

R2: Htr in each st.

Repeat row two until the hair sock reaches 28 (33, 38) cm.

Ch 5, dc into last htr, turn work, dc 7 in the 5 ch-sp, dc into first htr . (Top loop created.)

Fasten off and sew in ends.

You can make as many of these as you need, I always use 4 as I have a lots of hair, if you have finer hair you may only need 2. If you desire tighter curls you should use more and less for looser curls.

How quick and fun was that?

I really hoped you enjoyed making these hair socks, I'd love to hear what you thought and see picture's of those luscious locks so feel free to comment below or tag me @crochetedit_uk.

Until next time,

Sandy
